HEY, I'M AMES.
I'm the artist behind Signs By Ames.
I've always been drawn to things with character. Bold artwork, traditional tattoo designs, old-school lettering, and objects that feel like they have a story to tell. The kind of things that catch your eye and make you stop for a second look.
What started as an interest in signwriting and painting has grown into something much bigger. I love learning new techniques, experimenting with different materials and finding ways to bring the things I love into my own work. One project might involve traditional lettering and gold leaf; the next might be a dragon mirror, a tiger or something I've never tried painting before.
I'm particularly drawn to Japanese and American Traditional tattoo art, and I love the idea of taking that bold, timeless imagery off the flash sheet and into the home. That's where my mirrors and painted objects come in. They're a way to bring together the artwork, the craft and all the little details that make a piece feel
My Approach
Everything I make is painted by hand, in my own way, with a lot of care and probably more hours than I initially planned.
I don't really want to stick to one box. I want to keep learning, keep experimenting and see how far I can take this little corner of the creative world I've built.
Signs By Ames is my way of turning the things I'm inspired by into something real, and hopefully making things that other people feel just as drawn to as I do.
